Pajitnov Class
Year 5 Class Teacher: Mr W Silver
Year 5 Teaching Assistants: Mrs K Whitcombe & Mrs B Nguyen
The class name Pajitnov is named after Alexey Pajitnov, the inventor of the world-famous game Tetris. He was a mathematician and computer engineer working in Soviet Russia, and he originally created the game to entertain himself and his friends. I like how such a simple idea can be so clever and fun, and I enjoy the way the shapes tessellate — fitting together neatly like a puzzle. Pajitnov shows how mathematics, especially ideas like tessellation, can be used creatively to make something that millions of people around the world enjoy.
