Our class name, Grylls, was chosen to inspire a sense of adventure, resilience and perseverance. Bear Grylls is known for his courage, determination and ability to overcome challenges in the outdoors, reflecting the nature, outdoors and adventure strand of the Department of Education enrichment framework. This links closely to our Christian values of perseverance, encouraging us to keep going when things are difficult, and community, recognising the importance of supporting and encouraging one another as we face new challenges together. As a class, we aim to embrace opportunities, step outside our comfort zones and develop the confidence to explore, learn and grow.
Shackleton Class

I have named my Year 6 class after Sir Ernest Shackleton because he represents the very best of what it means to be a team. When his ship, the Endurance, was crushed by Antarctic ice in 1915, he didn’t give up; instead, his incredible resilience, boundless optimism, and care for his crew ensured that all 28 men survived against impossible odds. By carrying the Shackleton name this year, Shackleton class will champion these exact values, learning to keep going and find a solution – no matter what the problem is, finding hope in difficult moments, and working together so that nobody gets left behind.
