Sports Funding
The government provides ring-fenced funding, with the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, to help improve the provision of Physical Education and sport in Primary Schools.
We intend to use this money to continue to improve quality of teaching through the delivery of high quality PE lessons across the school and ensure children have a very good understanding of healthy lifestyles. We will also use the money to improve and promote active lifestyles for the children within our school, both during the school day and before and after school. We feel this is the most effective and efficient way for the funding to have a long lasting and positive effect on future learning and physical development of children within our school.
This Funding also supports Swimming. As a result of this, last year, the percentage of pupils within the year 6 cohort can do each of the following:
- 82% Can swim competently, confidently, and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.
- 76% Can use a range of stroke efficiently.
- 83% Can perform self-rescue in different water-based situation.
