PSHE

At Sutton-at-Hone C of E Primary School we believe that it is our responsibility to help prepare our pupils with the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will encourage them to become successful, happy and confident learners. We aim to inspire our pupils so that they believe that they can achieve and that anything is possible.

Our PSHE curriculum reflects our context and values. We endeavour to recognise and build on children’s previous learning; embed key knowledge; allow children to practise and develop a range of skills; be creative and instil a sense of self-belief. We teach PSHE in a variety of ways: as a discrete subject, via assemblies and through other subjects such as RE, History, Geography, English, Maths and Science, as well as through outdoor educational visits, community work and activities.

We encourage all our pupils to play a positive role in school life and the wider community through a school council, a prayer team as well as a variety of fundraising events, supporting charities and involvement in community activities. Our pupils are also given opportunities in PSHE lessons and assemblies to develop confidence, self-motivation and an understanding of their rights and responsibilities within our diverse society.
